Job Description
The Studio Director position is ultimately responsible for all operational decisions for the Studio business in Stockholm and London. The Studio Director reports directly to the CEO GBK Group. The Studio Director relies on key players to always be on top of the current situation as well as future prospects. Together with other senior managers you will be a key player in the GBK Group Management team. To be successful you are skilled in risk assessment, a good listener and communicator, while having the ability to see potential in people as well as projects.
Responsibilities and authorities
As part of the Group Management Team, this position entails shared responsibilities for all strategy, sales and operations. The position comes with a budget responsibility for the Studio business, according to the business plan and annual budget. In order to fulfil these responsibilities, this position also comes with the authority to collect information from all parts of the business and make strategic as well as operational decisions.
Ultimately responsible for GBK Studios operations internationally.
Joint responsibility for P&L GBK Studios, in accordance with the set budget.
Ultimately responsible for all Studio staff, including work environment and well-being.
Ultimately responsible for all production including quality output and financial decision-making.
Represents the studio operation in the senior management team. Responsible for global alignment, that all business is conducted according to GBK values, structure and processes, including Finance and HR.
Responsible for average quoted day-rate together with Controller
Responsible for customer satisfaction together with Executive Producers.
Together with Executive Producers, shared responsibility for all bidding in line with global bidding procedures as defined by the management team.
Work closely with the Finance Department for forecasting and follow-up, per project as well as for the entire Studio operation.
Responsible for GBK Studios complying with the global recruitment process - strategic recruitments.
Work closely with, and manage, all direct reporting Heads Of to ensure efficient and high-quality operations.
Executive Producer project support shared with Studio Director
Formal staff responsibility, primarily for the Heads of.

Responsibilities
Collaborating with Executive Producers to define the schedule and budget for cinematics pieces with input from Supervisors and Leads
Keeping projects within allocated budget. Tracking and reporting actuals.
Ensure effective communication and continual updates to the client and team, including delivery objectives and timelines
Coordinate and monitor multiple projects effectively
Scheduling and maintaining day to day tasking of departmental and interdisciplinary teams. Partnering with Resource Manager and other Producers to balance resource contention.
Partner up with Creative and Technical project leadership to anticipate risks and drive solutions across the team to head off challenges before they occur.
Manage day-to-day production issues through analytic thinking and information gathering.


Requirements and personal qualities
Previous experience in cinematic production preferably at a major game studio or cinematic production company
Proven experience producing creative teams and resources to quality and schedule goals
Ability to create and maintain project schedules and milestone documentation, monitoring the progress of department milestones and individual tasks against those schedules
Thorough knowledge of animation pipelines and the ability to foresee potential bottlenecks and provide possible solutions
Ability to adapt quickly in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
Excellent communication and collaboration skills, both internally and towards clients
Experience with project management tools such as Ftrack or Shotgun and proficient in g-suite
Excellent verbal and written communication in English

- Own the integration of client assets into the GBK pipeline, and conform GBK assets to client requirements
- Flag any issues or blockers to producers and take point to solve them together with the client and GBK leads
- Act as the technical point of contact for the client, and support the producer and supervisors/leads as/when needed
- Support the art and animation teams with technical feedback, troubleshooting and problem solving, tools creation and delivery preparations
- Make sure that both final and WIP deliveries comply with client requirements and can be smoothly integrated into their engine
- Own the integration of assets in engine as and when needed
- Help the pipeline and IT teams with build access and setting up any project-specific software, tools and plugins
- Support executive producers and producers in the bidding process and project planning


Required skills

- Severals years of experience as a technical animator on AAA games, including as a lead/senior
- Experience creating body, face, creature and mechanical rigs
- Knowledge of performance/motion capture processes and requirements
- Experience with in-game animation, state machines and a strong understanding of integration requirements
- Extensive knowledge of Maya and Motionbuilder, including scripting in Python
- Familiarity with Git, Perforce, Jenkins and other commonly used versioning/build management software

On- and Offboarding Processes

- Coordinate and ensure that workstations/accounts are set up in a timely manner
- Schedule remote testing and follow up/notify relevant parties of results or actionables.
- Retrieve workstation, work tools, laptop or any other IT assets and update Inventory
