Huawei’s Stockholm Digital Power Lab (Stockholm Research Center) is responsible for Digital Power Advanced Technology Research, Architecture Evolution Design and Strategic Technology Planning. Now we are looking for a Senior Power Electronics Designer with strong knowledge on Power Electronics Technology, simulation and design, and Digital control. 6G ISAC System Expert
Scope
Research on ISAC (Integrated Sensing and Communication) algorithm, software or system architecture for 5.5G/6G.

Responsibilities
You will be responsible for the algorithm, software or system architecture for the new area in 5.5G/6G wireless products. You will define requirements, design application and features, drive technical studies, and coordinate works between different teams. You are going to work closely with algorithm developers, hardware and software designers. The project is organized in very close cooperation with the Huawei wireless teams in Shanghai.

Qualifications and experience
To be successful in this role the candidate should have at least 3 years of experience in the industry, particularly in sensing engineering, and Proven record of leading large, complex analysis and design projects.
Here are some of technical competences for the position:
System architecture design;
Signal processing and data processing of sensing, such as Pulse Compression, MIMO, Doppler, Filtering, detection, tracking, imaging;
Embedded Software, FPGA;
Hands-on skills in software implementation.

Machine Learning for Wireless Channel: In 5G radio network, channel is playing a central role in the algorithm design and system evaluation. Even if this has been studied extensively before for simpler cases, higher requirements have been posed to the 5G system to have a more accurate characterization for the wireless channel. The objective of this project is to apply machine learning to capture the complex structure in the channel, which can be further used to predict the behaviour of channel and hence improve network performance.

Machine Learning for Distributed Wireless: Extra-large-scale multi-antenna systems via collaboration among multiple antenna arrays distributed in different geographical locations is regarded as a promising evolution of today’s massive MIMO system for 5.5G and beyond radio networks. However, there are two major problems related to the scalability of the system. First, the large dimensionality makes the processing delay exceed the signal processing time budget. Second, the distributed nature of the baseband processing on different nodes requires minimal communication between sub-processes. Most of the conventional distributed schemes, such as ADMM, BCD, or message-passing algorithms, rely on a large number of iterations among different computing nodes in order to achieve a satisfactory performance, which is not affordable in practical systems. Our intention is to apply advanced machine learning techniques in designing more efficient distributed optimization algorithms to realize parallel and distributed beamforming/precoding/scheduling schemes with extremely low latency, which are also robust against channel state information errors caused by, for example, noise, pilot contamination, and user mobility.

HPC(High Performance Computing) for Wireless: The development of 5G and the next generation wireless standard requires more connections and traffic, and the adoption of machine learning in wireless puts forward higher requirements on the computing capacity for base station. On the other hand, with the failure of Moore's Law, it is difficult to further improve the computing capacity by advanced semiconductor manufacture. Therefore, the object is to study innovative HPC design methods to further improve computing efficiency for baseband chipset.

Qualifications

- Background in Computer Science, Wireless communication or equivalent;

Topic: Development of CFD modeling capabilities to support the design of two-phase heat sinks for electronic equipment.

BTS Engineering Lab at Huawei’s Research Center in Stockholm is a highly creative, multidisciplinary, and international think-tank, dedicated to envisioning of strategic product designs and turning them into innovative, working solutions.

The R&D department of Thermal Engineering is looking for a talented individual in the area of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and thermal engineering, focusing mainly on two-phase simulations. The PhD candidate is expected to conduct research on the topic of using novel CFD methods to design and optimize the complex two-phase cooling systems.

Topic Description:

The ever-increasing power density of microprocessors makes thermal management a crucial technology for future development of communication and other electronic equipment. New cooling technologies are being investigated at Huawei’s Stockholm Research Center. Two-phase cooling is among the promising approaches, where boiling heat transfer is used to remove high heat fluxes from the electronic components. Optimal design of the two-phase cooling systems requires knowledge of pool and flow boiling regimes, wall condensation phenomena, refrigerant properties, wall treatment effects, porous structures and related processes.

CFD is a known tool used to evaluate two-phase heat sink designs and to make proposals on technical solutions to improve them. Current CFD codes lack adequate models for resolving the multi interface phenomena between the vapor, liquid and solid walls, which affect the boiling phenomena and overall heat transfer efficiency. The main challenges are (1) to develop and validate computationally efficient 2 phase models, (2) to validate the models against experimental data; (3) to use developed models and methods for exploring the effects of system design and physical properties of materials on the performance of thermal management equipment.

The successful candidate will work in close contact with other experts in two-phase modeling, material science, production and design from Huawei’s Stockholm Research Center.

Objective of the Ph.D. thesis:

- Develop computationally efficient CFD models for simulation of the effects of the micro-scale two-phase phenomena on the transient heat and flow distribution.
- Carry out calibration and validation of the CFD models.
- Use developed computational models to explore the effects of design, physical properties of coolants and materials, etc.
- Propose and develop an approach for further reduction of the computational time of the complex two-phase simulations needed for full scale design optimization.
