Requirements
The position as Junior Research Fellow requires a master’s degree (300 ECTS) or equivalent and preferably a few years of work experience in a relevant field. Nordregio is currently seeking a Senior GIS Analysts/Cartographer to join our team. The positions offer an opportunity to contribute to impactful data-driven research and analysis on key topics in regional development and planning. Main responsibilities
Lead projects and collaborate with researchers on multidisciplinary projects across the Nordic Region, Baltic Sea Region, EU, and beyond.
Collect, harmonize and analyse statistical and spatial data covering themes related to regional development in the Nordics at various geographical scales using both statistical and GIS methods.
Conduct spatial and network analyses using GIS tools, primarily ArcGIS Pro, to derive insights from geographic data.
Create clear and impactful maps, graphs, and visualizations; document methodologies; and present findings through reports and presentations.
Engage in tendering and dissemination activities.

Requirements
The position as Senior GIS Analyst/Cartographer require a doctoral degree or a master’s degree with at least five years of relevant experience in research and practice (master’s degree), or two years of relevant experience after acquiring a PhD. The degree should be in one of the following fields: a degree in geoscience, urban and regional planning, human geography, social sciences, or other relevant disciplines.
Experience in statistical and spatial data collection, analysis and visualization with GIS software, (e.g. ArcGIS Pro, QGIS or other), web-mapping solutions (e.g. ArcGIS Online or similar).
Experience working with micro data would be a plus.
Knowledge of programming languages (e.g., Python, R or other) is desirable.
Highly motivated and capable of working independently, while also thriving in a collaborative research setting.

Senior Cartographer/GIS analyst

The Senior Cartographer/GIS Analyst is expected to have special skills within a technical field for which there is a need at Nordregio (e.g. data analysis, GIS, project management, statistics, etc.). This senior position includes being staff manager for the GIS group.
Requirements
Employment as Senior Cartographer/GIS Analyst requires a master’s or PhD degree (180-450 ECTS) or other formal qualifications of equivalent accreditation.
At least five years of relevant experience in research and practice after acquiring a master’s degree or two years after acquiring a PhD.
Extensive skills within his or her field, be it GIS, geo-database, statistics and project management.
At least three years of project management experience.

Event Coordinator
Position
Nordregio is currently seeking to expand its communications team with a full-time event coordinator to plan and execute external and internal events that promote our research and organisation. A successful applicant has a relevant educational background, at least two years of experience working with events, and preferably some experience in project management.
As an event coordinator at Nordregio, you are organised, creative, and self-motivated and fit well into our cooperative, international work environment with many parallel tasks. You are also a constructive team player who supports our communication advisors with the planning and implementation of impact ful events. You will be open to travelling and organizing events across the Nordic Region and occasionally in EU countries.

Nordregio is searching for a Senior Research Fellow (SRF) or a Research Fellow (RF) with experience in marine spatial planning and sustainable blue economy
Nordregio seeks to expand its capacity by employing a Senior Research Fellow or Research Fellow with expertise and interest in marine and coastal planning and development of a sustainable blue economy. Based on your research interests, there will also be an opportunity to pursue other topics in our projects, e.g. related to governance of the green transition, spatial governance and regional policy. We are looking for someone with a strong analytical mindset and relevant research skills and with experience in research and development in marine spatial planning within national and transboundary settings – preferably within the Nordic and Baltic Sea Regions. You also have interest in cross-sector integration and collaboration in marine and coastal planning.


Requirements
Possess a PhD (Senior Research Fellow) or a Master’s degree (Research Fellow), in addition to at least 5 years of relevant work or research experience in the area of maritime/marine policy or planning (especially within the Nordic and Baltic Sea Regions).
For a Senior Research Fellow, practical experience in tendering and managing EU or national level research projects is needed.
Experience working with issues related to marine governance (e.g. stakeholder engagement/cross-sector integration) and the development of a sustainable blue economy in key marine sectors, such as, energy, transportation, recreation and environment.

Position
Nordregio is currently seeking to expand its communications team with a full-time position to plan and execute communication tasks for Nordic and EU-funded research projects. Topics span from green city planning and rural bioeconomy to remote work, migration, and digital inclusion. The Nordic Vision for sustainable development is the backbone of our work. A successful applicant has relevant educational background and at least 3-5 years of experience in communications work and preferably some experience in project management.
As a Communications Advisor at Nordregio, you are creative and self-motivated and fit well into our cooperative, international work environment with many parallel projects. We are looking for a constructive team player with the ability to network and collaborate with a range of Nordic and European actors and project partners. Stakeholder engagement and Nordic knowledge exchange are integral parts of our work.
You are also expected to contribute to Nordregio’s ambition of being an environmentally conscious, caring, and equal workplace. Experience in Nordic cooperation is an advantage, but mastering English and a Scandinavian language is a requirement.
Requirements
The position requires a bachelor- or master’s degree (300 ECTS) or equivalent in communications, journalism, or a social science degree
Fluency in English and at least one Scandinavian language
Highly motivated with a sense for detail and the ability to plan and manage communication projects and work independently, as well as in a cooperative team environment
Excellent writing skills, but you also excel in different ways of visual communication
Good command of InDesign, Photoshop, Office, web publishing systems (Wordpress), and other digital communications tools
Experience in Social Media communication and interest in further advancing our SoMe presence
Experience in video and/or animation production plus webinar hosting



Main responsibilities
Creating communication plans and managing communications projects or tasks in research projects – ranging from our annual stakeholder event (Nordregio Forum) and workshops for knowledge exchange between Nordic and European stakeholders to online report launches, seminars in Almedalen, and PR campaigns.
Editorial work incl. Nordregio website, newsletters, invitations, and policy briefs
Layout of products such as invitations, programs, reports, etc.
Social media content development and monitoring
Hosting webinars and seminars – hybrid and physical events
Visual content development – photo and basic video editing

? Expertise in quantitative analysis and applied research in the field of regional development and planning.

Competences and qualifications

As an expert in the field, you work, support and contribute to several projects as a project member so it is important that it is also comfortable for you.
The geographic scope of your field of interest includes a European and international perspective and expert knowledge in at least one of the Nordic countries. We appreciate abilities in external networking and in communication with stakeholders. Internally we appreciate analytical and creative skills, complemented by abilities to both cooperate and work on your own. For this position, you have at least 6 years of relevant work experience and already an extensive network of research and policy contacts. As Team leader, you hold a PhD or MSc in GIS, economic or quantitative geography, or an equivalent discipline.
Fluency in English is essential, and you should be willing to acquire a working knowledge in a Scandinavian language within a relatively short period of time, if you do not already speak one.
