What you’ll do
We are building a next-generation steel plant - and data is a core part of how we operate, optimize, and scale. We believe the best data solutions are created close to the business, by teams who understand both the context and the technology. We are now looking for a Data Engineer to join our Digital Domain supporting Finance and HR. In this role, you will work at the intersection of business and technology - helping shape how data is modeled, shared, and used to drive decisions across the organization. You will be part of a cross-functional team where business experts, analysts, and developers collaborate closely.
Together, you will build data products that are reliable, understandable, and designed to be reused across the company - not just for a single use case. At the same time, you will contribute to how we build our data platform and ways of working. We aim to continuously evolve - adapting to new technologies, improving how we design data, and staying aligned with modern best practices. You will also take a leading role in facilitating the data platform roadmap - aligning needs across domains, shaping priorities, and ensuring progress on key initiatives.
Responsibilities:
Design, build, and maintain data pipelines and products that enable Finance and HR to make reliable, data-driven decisions
Work closely with business stakeholders and analysts to translate needs into scalable data models and solutions
Help structure and expose data so it is consistent, understandable, and reusable across domains · Take an active role in improving how we work with data across teams - leading and driving improvements to platform capabilities, standards, and patterns
Enable self-service use of data by making it accessible and usable beyond engineering teams
Make thoughtful trade-offs in how data is designed and delivered - balancing batch vs near-real-time, handling historical data, and shaping metrics and semantics for usability
Define and promote best practices for data quality, testing, documentation, and access control
Explore how modern tooling, including AI-assisted development, can improve how we build, test, and maintain data products
Support and coach colleagues in modern data engineering practices

What you’ll bring
You enjoy solving real problems and are motivated by building data solutions that are actually used. You are curious about how data platforms should be designed — and how those designs need to evolve as technology and business needs change.
We believe you bring many of the following:
Several years of experience in data engineering or modern data platform development
Experience building end-to-end data solutions (ingestion, storage, transformation, consumption)
Interest in contributing beyond your immediate team — shaping shared ways of working, standards, and platform capabilities
Strong skills and experience modeling data for analytical use
Experience with cloud-based data platforms and infrastructure-as-code
Knowledge of engineering practices such as CI/CD, testing, and code review
Ability to make sound technical decisions without being tied to specific tools or vendors
Interest in areas such as self-service analytics, semantic modeling, temporal data, and data governance
Experience working closely with business stakeholders, analysts, or operational teams
Strong communication skills and ability to explain technical solutions clearly

Nice to have:
Experience with, or interest in, industrial/operational (OT) data and how data from physical processes can be used for analytics and optimization

What you’ll do
Right now, we are looking for a Solution Architect to join our Digital HR and Finance team. In this role, you will report to our Digital Domain Manager and be part of the Digital Enterprise function. You will join a supportive, collaborative environment where we create modern and reliable digital capabilities for our HR and Finance functions.
This role is a great fit for you who have several years of experience as a software developer, especially within backend development, and feel ready to grow into a Solution Architect role. At Stegra, you will have the valuable opportunity to develop into the role together with guidance and close collaboration from our Digital Enterprise Architect. We believe that thoughtful architecture grows from people who understand how digital solutions are built, and your development background will be a strong starting point as you take on a broader, more strategic perspective.
In this role, you will collaborate closely with colleagues across both business and technical teams. Together, you will explore needs from HR and Finance and turn them into well-designed, future ready technical solutions. While you will not focus on writing production code every day, you will be involved in defining backend patterns, supporting development teams and helping align our digital solutions with Stegra’s guiding principles.
Your day-to-day work will include, but not be limited to:
Exploring needs together with HR and Finance teams and shaping them into clear, well-structured technical concepts
Supporting the creation of backend patterns and solution designs that are scalable, intuitive and aligned with Stegra’s digital principles
Breaking down broader problem areas into understandable technical building blocks, roadmaps and development tasks
Collaborating closely with developers to ensure shared understanding of architectural choices and helping teams move forward with confidence
Contributing to integration approaches, data flow designs and API structures that enable smooth communication between systems
Ensuring that security, data protection and access control are naturally embedded in the design of every solution
Working across domains to make sure our technical solutions reflect real business needs and contribute to smooth, intuitive workflows
Engaging regularly with stakeholders to create shared understanding of needs, decisions and expected outcomes
Working closely with our Digital Enterprise Architect and learning how architectural decisions connect to the larger enterprise landscape

What you’ll do
We are looking for a Data Engineer to join our Digital Domain, supporting the Finance and HR teams. In this role, you will report to the Digital Domain Manager and be part of a cross-functional digital team that ensures our Finance and HR functions have the modern digital capabilities they need to power a cutting-edge steel plant. Working closely with stakeholders, you will design and deliver high-quality data products that translate business needs into solutions with real impact.
At the same time, you will play a key role in shaping and developing our shared data platform, working with data lakes, data warehouses, and applying data mesh principles to build scalable and sustainable foundations for the future. Your contribution will combine hands-on engineering with technical leadership, guiding colleagues in modern data practices while enabling teams across the organization to become confident and effective users of data.
Specific to this role, the day-to-day tasks will include the following but as we are a growing company with very little silos between teams, other tasks might be included as well.
Design and lead development of Stegra’s data platform, including ingestion pipelines, lake architecture, and warehouse design.
Support business analysts and experts by helping shape reliable, scalable, and valuable data products.
Coach and mentor developers in modern data engineering best practices, fostering high-quality development and a culture of continuous improvement.
Define and promote engineering standards for data governance, security, and data product quality.
Drive the adoption of modern tools, frameworks, and automation to improve our platform capabilities.
Work closely with HR and Finance to understand their needs and translate them into effective data models and flows.
Act as a bridge between business stakeholders and technical teams to ensure alignment on data strategy and priorities.

A degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or equivalent experience.
Some years of experience in data engineering, ideally building or improving a modern data platform with lake/warehouse architecture.
Experience building and evolving end-to-end data platforms (data ingestion, storage, transformation, access).
Proficiency with tools like S3, Snowflake, Terraform, or similar technologies.
Familiarity with data mesh concepts and experience in applying them in a real-world context.
Experience working with developing microservices and microservice architectures
Knowledge of engineering best practices such as CI/CD, automated testing, and code review in a data context.
The ability to collaborate across domains and explain technical solutions in a clear and understandable way.
A hands-on approach combined with a strategic mindset, you can balance short-term needs with long-term platform evolution.

What you’ll do
Right now, we are looking for a Solution Architect to join our Digital HR & Finance team. As Chief Technology Officer – Hydrogen Integration & Ironmaking, you'll lead a high-performing technical team focused on integrating and optimizing Stegra’s Hydrogen and DRI systems. You’ll be the expert bridge between operations, engineering, and innovation—driving plant performance and influencing the design of future projects.
Key Responsibilities
Lead technical integration between hydrogen and DRI units
Translate operational learnings into performance improvements
Guide cross-system risk mitigation and brownfield upgrades
Collaborate with Centre of Excellence, OEMs, and operational teams
Benchmark and enhance plant reliability, emissions, and efficiency

Requirements
Proven technology leadership in process/plant engineering and operations in hydrogen, DRI, and/or equivalent heavy industry processes
At least 15 years pf experience with complex technical systems and cross-functional teams
Strong understanding of industrial safety, risk, and digital tools
Fluent in English (Swedish is a plus)
