Job summary

As Packaging Engineer, you are responsible to design packaging solutions in line with customer needs, following Nefab’s Engineering Directive, which provides a clear framework for the job.

Main responsibilities

• Design packaging solutions while utilizing Nefab products and/or sourced materials
• Assist with providing packaging technical expertise
• Assess structural requirements, method of transport, long term storage and other specifications
• Assist with packaging evaluations and designs of other engineers or designers
• Assist with the gathering of sufficient information to enable drawings
• Create CAD drawings, assembly instructions and material lists
• Assist Senior Engineers in project assignments.
• Produce samples for test packing and testing
• Perform various mechanical tests to validate designs and materials

Your profile

EDUCATION

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering equivalent in experience and education
• Project Management Certification is considered an asset

EXPERIENCE

• 1 year experience working with CAD programs, either in school or at work
• Experience from multi-material packaging design with steel, wood, fiber-based materials, plastics and/or other traded materials is meriting.

LANGUAGES

• English (high - mandatory)

Purpose of the job
To prepare, lead and manage all costing and pricing aspects of a tender within the tender team (from Business Opportunity Review up to Tender Transfer Meeting)
To support the Tender team on costing aspects and pricing, cash curves etc.

Reports directly to: Head of Services Business development and Bid director

Key accountabilities
Prepare costing during pre-tendering phase and tendering phase, based on our Services products and solutions
Support the Bid manager and Tender leader in the preparation of the offers and in negotiations
Define the cost structure for the bid according to customer request for quotations, sales requirements, etc
Define target cost per activities and/or sub system, matching with winning price and identified gaps versus reference solutions
Lead cost estimation activities based on target cost approach with all participating units and métiers
Lead cost improvement actions to reach tender cost /target price using all competitiveness levers, and challenge the contributors
Collaborative work with central Product platform and Finance team to calculate “other costs” (bonds, financing, hedging, insurance, taxes, etc)
Consolidate tender costs commitment as per financial rules (in Mercury, Maco or Promenade)
Control the level of robustness of the costs
Support proactively the bid manager and tender leader through the tender validation process
Prepare the Costing package for TRM (Tender Review Meeting) (cost analysis/bridges, standard report, cash curve, etc), and support the tender leader on the preparation of the pricing sheet for the customer
Lead cost estimation activities for changes discussed with the customer during negotiation phase and update the cost commitment
Transfer tender costing data with related assumptions to project Tender Transfer Meeting
Support on demand the Project execution team on costing for variation orders

Provide all costing and pricing deliverables on time
Accuracy and consistency of cost commitment for tender submittal and for tender negotiation

What you know

In the role as Senior Global Procurement Packaging Materials you will be playing an instrumental role within procurement and the spend area, where you are expected to work efficiently with a large set of internal and external stakeholders and lead the strategic sourcing agenda for Direct Procurement and ensure it is rolled out in the function.


You will be exposed to complex negotiations with suppliers where you need to be able to structure your approach, act confidently and take decisions. Procurement leader of Packaging Material with €90 m spend, >50 suppliers across all regions and 6 commodities. Responsible for ensuring spend and suppliers are managed efficiently delivering competitive advantage and added value to the company in terms of increased profitability and growth, in close alignment with key stakeholders. Management of 2-3 direct report and close collaboration with multiple other Procurement colleagues as part of a matrix organization. Key leader of strategic souring initiatives within the function supporting the Head of Global Direct Procurement.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1 Sourcing strategy and sourcing of new suppliers:
· Leadership pf supplier base and spend segmentation (incl model development)
· Develop and implement procurement commodity strategies meeting business needs, today and in the future (glass, pumps, injection moulded, plastic bottles, tubes, printed materials)
· Sourcing, introduction and development of new suppliers including business transfers
· Work with suppliers and external forces to bring innovations and improved ways of working to the commodities

Supplier Relationship Management
· Owner of the global supplier base for packaging materials (~50 supplier groups and >65 factories), accountable for supplier performance, relationship and overall business allocation
· Owner of supplier performance management and continuous improvements linked to service levels, cost, quality, innovation and sustainability metrics
· Responsible for setting and achieving supplier sustainability targets and assessments
· Responsible for implementing supplier contracts and mapping of supplier risk metrics
· Drive efficiency improvements, value engineering and standardization initiatives
· Responsible for resolving major supplier issues related to quality and service etc
2 Stakeholder management:
· Work closely with the functional stakeholders to achieve strategic objectives and identify opportunities for increasing value to the commodities

3 Leadership and People management:
· Leadership of the Global Packaging Material Procurement team (2-3 direct report and dotted line reporting from India and China)
