We are Fatshark
We are a critically acclaimed Swedish game development studio with about 200 experienced and skilled employees. We are most well-known for developing the Warhammer: Vermintide franchise, but have also helped develop a number of AAA titles and we launched the highly anticipated game Warhammer 40,000: Darktide.
We have grown quite a bit over the last few years, but we still embrace the same values that we started with. We want to build the best first person co-op games together, in an approachable, fun and passion-driven way.

The role
As a Level Designer, you are responsible for the design and construction of levels, gameplay spaces and challenges, working mainly within Unreal. You have a keen eye for fun combat action, environmental composition and guidance, both in a first-person perspective and in a cooperative action game environment. Additional skillsets needed are visual scripting proficiency, low-level feature implementation, and work documentation.
Aside from crafting high-quality gameplay spaces, the Level Designer role requires communication, drive, creativity, and flexibility. At Fatshark, we separate the level design and level art roles, but an element of both mindsets are needed as the role bridges both design and art.
Your task is to create excellent player experiences through gameplay space design and the challenges they may contain. You’ll collaborate across teams and disciplines, from art and design to QA and production, in order to make the best game possible and uphold the game vision and quality targets on time. Working in a field where multiple crafts come together, feedback, issue flagging, and teamwork skills are crucial in your daily work.

What you'll do
Create great levels and gameplay for first-person action co-op games
Design, plan out, and build levels and challenges in Unreal, from start to finish, balancing aesthetics, function vs. form relationships, performance and fun
Prime gameplay spaces for frictionless set dressing
Work closely with game design, art, narrative, and supporting crafts to execute the game vision
Be self-motivated and organized, balancing thoroughness and efficiency while meeting high-level goals
Maintain project files, documentation, and ensure efficient workflows
Actively seek out feedback from playtests, leads, and the different teams, and be proactive in providing feedback and creative solutions to co-workers
Knowledge-sharing and mentoring of more junior team members
Analyze and suggest improvements for gameplay features and the level design toolbox

Required qualifications
5+ years of professional level designer experience
Demonstrable experience making fun, high-quality levels and gameplay in a first-person shooter action/adventure game
Must be able to analyze, understand, and discuss the strengths and weaknesses of level design and game elements of current projects and other games
A collaborative mindset and the ability to take ownership of levels and gameplay challenges from concept to delivery
Proven eye for environmental aesthetics
At least one shipped title for PC or consoles

Bonus qualifications
Experience with Unreal Engine
Interest in interior design and/or fantasy architecture

What we offer
A playful, friendly and inclusive workplace
Opportunities for personal growth with varied projects, experienced co-workers and recurring hack weeks/days
Regulated flex time and paid overtime
Occupational pension
Health benefits and health check ups
Bonus program
Relocation package for international talent
Parties, social events and team-building activities
Dog-friendly office located in central Stockholm

Application details
We have a policy of working 4 days in the office per week, with 1 day optional to work from home. The onboarding is being done fully in the office.
We look forward to reviewing applications and will be interviewing candidates continuously until the position has been filled.
