Onboard System Engineer
for our location in Stockholm, Sweden


In this role you will successfully develop and maintain onboard systems, as part of our Rail Control Solutions Division, creating solutions which insure the highest customer value and satisfaction. You will act as the bridge between the users of the system (external or internal customers), the developers (including HW and SW Designers, Testers and Validators) and the safety assessors.


Responsibilities:


• Defining system requirements, architecture, definition of system context and interfaces, create technical concepts.
• Verification of test specifications and module design specifications.
• Conception of safety measures, support safety case and presentation to assessors and involved teams.
• Support and conduct hazard and risk analyses, failure mode effects and criticality analyses, analyse non-conformities.
• Appropriate documentation on all required levels pertaining to both product and process
• Creation and negotiation of technical concepts, support product owner and product management with technical expertise.


Qualifications


• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Electrical/Electronic, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent work experience.
• Excellent knowledge and/ or experience working with electrical or mechanical system engineering, preferably in transportation industry.
• Relevant experience working with requirements, specifications and documentation of complex technical systems.
• Easy to understand SW and HW, and their interconnection.

The main purpose of this role is to integrate the Onboard Automatic Train Protection System (ATP) into a specific vehicle.
Since this is an integration of a safety critical system, a great portion of your work will be electrical design, creating schematics, write installation/de-installations manuals, analysing and documenting requirements.


Responsibilities:


• Development and integration of electrical systems throughout the entire development lifecycle.
• Produce electrical schematics, drawings and defining the bill of materials.
• Produce documents needed for the creation of safety cases and release info about the onboard system integration.
• Field surveys and data management including vehicle investigations.
• Produce the deviation reports based on deviations from the Technical Specification.
• Interfacing with different stakeholders, both internal and external.
• Participate in bid estimation work for new potential contracts


Qualifications


• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Electrical/Electronic, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent work experience.
• Relevant previous experience in system design, interpreting requirements and writing documentation.
• Experience using one or several schematic drawing programs.
• Experience of ERTMS or other safety-critical systems is highly valued.

In this role, your main responsibility will be to plan, integrate, develop, drive and monitor the application of the BT CM (Bombardier Transportation Configuration Management) process and verify that the change implementation is properly applied, and that BT CM Principles are rigorously respected. • Responsible for delivery of Software and document package to customer.

• Maintain the interfaces between Configuration and Change Management process, by ensuring that a Change Management process is in place on the projects from day 1.
• Provide support and ensure that related processes, tools, policies and procedures are executed to cover the whole Configuration and Change Management process chain with agreed transfer mechanisms of data between tools, if necessary.

Qualifications

In this role, you will ensure that our products are compliant to applicable requirements and assure delivery of safe, reliable and quality products to our customers. • Good understanding of HW and SW interactions within complex system architectures.
• Programming knowledge desirable (experience with programming languages like: C, C++, C# or PHP)
• Experience of ERTMS or other safety-critical systems is highly valued.
• Knowledge of DOORS, Rational Synergy or similar tools are considered a plus.

Purpose of the role:


The Project Manager acts within the boundaries of the contract with the power to deliver the object of the contract to the customer on time and to deliver the targeted margin to Bombardier.


Tasks:


• The Project Manager has the responsibility for implementation of the contract and delivery of the project to the customer, with a focus on time, within budget and all necessary quality and performance criteria.
• Responsible for the Detailed Project Schedule, Customer Interface, Risk & Opportunity Management, Project Improvement Management, Project Launch Management and Contractual Obligation Management, Budget allocation and monitoring, Project Reporting both status and financial performance.
• Has the authority and the obligation to review the effort of the Core Team members and to give directives related to the project execution, as such will be involved in the performance objective setting process for all Core Team members.
• It is also the mandate of the Project Manager to define and secure the support of the business partners and extended project team.
• Responsible for the management of all communication with the Customer.
• Lead the Core Team effort to meet periodic financial targets.
• Develop “must do” strategies to increase team effectiveness, helping the team go through the distinct stages of ‘forming, storming, norming and performing.
• Adapt the allocation of work packages between the roles and the day-to-day delegation of special tasks to the Core Team members in order to optimize the total project.
• Other accountabilities within the Region such as root cause analysis, improvement activities, learnt lessons enabling a learning and improved organizational performance.


Qualifications:


• University background preferred, PMI certification is an advantage
• Extensive experience in Project Management, working with complex technical projects (preferably from rail industry)

• Proven experience in delivering large projects, within expected quality, time and cost.
