Purpose of the role
You will oversee all aspects of the research and selection of new Laureates for the Right Livelihood Award, taking a leading role in implementing our strategic outlook, as well as developing and managing the research team. In this position, you will be collaborating with colleagues in the entire Right Livelihood team and communicating with nominees for the Award as well as external experts and other contacts. It is expected that you stay on top of global developments related to the work. It is your responsibility to ensure high quality in the research and present accurate, comprehensive, and timely research findings about the candidates.
The Head of Research will report to the Deputy Director and lead the work of the research team, which currently has two staff members.
Main responsibilities
Lead and develop the annual selection process of Laureates towards the goals defined in the organisational strategy and operational plan.
Provide leadership to the research team, manage and guide the research work, and be responsible for the research budget.
Coordinate and conduct investigative research about nominees for the Award, both remote and on-site, and lead the writing of the report presented to the jury, including all relevant research findings.
Ensure high-quality research to allow the jury to assess nominations from multiple perspectives.
In coordination with colleagues, make sure that our work is informed by current trends in global affairs and civil society movements.

Required experience and qualifications
Professional experience in leadership roles
Professional experience in conducting investigative research in fields such as activism and social transformation
Experience with conducting interviews with a wide range of people, e.g. victims of environmental or human rights violations, both on-site or online
Full professional proficiency in English, including experience with research report writing

Desired experience and qualifications
Expertise in topics such as human rights, environment, climate, peace and other topics relevant to the work of Right Livelihood
Professional proficiency in French, Spanish, Arabic, and other languages
Experience with the use of AI tools for research
Experience with data management to optimise research processes

Purpose of the role
To help us achieve our goal of professionalising our financial management processes and longer-term financial planning, we are looking for an experienced finance professional to join us as Finance Manager. This role will oversee all financial areas of the organisation, taking a leading role in shaping financial strategies and developing and managing financial processes across the international team. The person in this position will be collaborative and systematic in their approach, with an appetite for process improvement and the ability to communicate confidently and effectively with non-finance team members.
The role will report to the Deputy Director and work closely with the management team and budget holders. The accounting is outsourced to third-party providers in Stockholm and Geneva, and you will work closely with external consultants and experts.
Main responsibilities
Translate Right Livelihood’s strategy into a financial framework with a multi-year outlook on income and expenditure
Deliver regular performance reporting and prepare strategic analysis of Right Livelihood’s financial position for the Board
Lead the creation of the annual budget
Lead and develop financial management processes for our overall strategic development and equip colleagues to become strong financial stewards
Ensure we follow quality-assured accounting methods by working closely with our third-party providers and auditors
Lead the preparation of regulatory reporting, including the administrative annual report

Required experience and qualifications
Proven work experience with financial management and control
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree with relevant finance/accounting coursework
Thorough knowledge of Swedish accounting principles and procedures
Experience working as part of a team
Full professional proficiency in English and Swedish

Desired experience and qualifications
Experience working with an international organisation with offices in multiple countries and/or organisations with several different entities
Professional working proficiency in German and/or French
Interest in the work of Right Livelihood Laureates

Who you are
We see you as someone who enjoys both high-level financial strategising and delivering operational budget and accounting activities. You are a team-player who collaborates well with managers and budget holders but can also work well independently.
What we offer
You will become part of a committed international team working together to achieve peace, justice and sustainability for all. You will be eligible to receive up to SEK 4 000 health benefit per year and can work from home up to 40 per cent of your weekly contracted hours. Right Livelihood is part of a collective bargaining agreement in Sweden (Tjänstemän Fremia med Unionen och Akademikerförbunden) in Sweden.
Terms of employment
The position will be based in Stockholm but occasional travel to our Geneva office may be required. The probationary period is six months. This is a full-time position but we are open to making it a part-time position (minimum 75 per cent). The successful candidate must have the right to work in Sweden (EU or EEA citizenship or valid work permit).

Purpose of the role
To help us achieve our goal, we are looking for an experienced, mission-driven leader to join us in this newly-created position as Deputy Director. This role will lead the implementation of Right Livelihood’s strategy and shape its organisational development in close partnership with the Executive Director. The person in this position will be a dynamic, people-oriented driver for sustainable organisational growth equipping us with the systems and tools to ensure we operate and collaborate effectively and meet our goals.


Responsibilities
Work in partnership with the Executive Director to implement the organisational strategy, translating strategic goals into measures, work plans, and strategic, operational, and financial metrics.
Support the Executive Director by taking over selective operational responsibilities, especially in programme and communications work.
Provide a strong day-to-day leadership presence by guiding, supporting, and empowering staff and ensuring they thrive individually as well as collectively.
Lead Right Livelihood’s organisational development, building processes and fostering a culture and work environment that enables us to achieve our strategic goals.
Design and oversee the implementation of a people-strategy for recruitment, staff development, and organisational learning.



Required experience and qualifications
10+ years of professional work experience with 5+ years in relevant leadership roles, including in the non-profit sector.
Demonstrated success in managing for impact with senior-level staff and budget planning responsibility.
Senior experience in organisational development.
Strong commitment to Right Livelihood’s mission and values.
Full professional proficiency in English.



Additional experience and qualifications
Experience of generating public engagement and visibility by a combination of programme/advocacy/communications work.
Experience in human resources management.
Professional proficiency in Swedish, French, or German.
