As a Design Manager at our development studio in Stockholm, you will be a functional manager of our Designers with the overall responsibility for making sure our teams have access to the best people for each game project. You will be part of a team of managers who continuously work together on innovating our Design department, as well as being part of the wider organizational development of a growing company. The department includes Game Designers, Content Designers, and UX Designers. You will not work directly with designing our games but rather focus on managing, growing and coaching employees.

Required qualifications

Experience as Game Designer, UX Designer, or Content Designer

We are now looking for a Senior C# / C++ Developer to work as part of the SDK Team within Paradox DevOps. Comprising of 8 Teams, the DevOps department is responsible for the Paradox Ecosystem which provides a variety of services and products to Paradox’s various Game Studios. These products and services include the Paradox Account service, Paradox Mods, social/player features (leaderboards, cloud saves, forums, etc.), the Paradox Store, the Paradox Game SDK, and much more!
The SDK Team’s primary responsibility is the development and maintenance of the Paradox Game SDK which is used by both our internal game teams and, externally, by our game partners. The scope of the SDK is wide, supporting every technology, platform and game engine in use by Paradox published games. The SDK is used for interacting with all of our online services, as well as local file handling, caching, parsing, and state management.
As a Senior Developer you have expert knowledge in Software Development, with at least 6 years commercial experience in C# / C++. You are able to work with little or no guidance and can be relied upon to provide solutions to complex problems. Paradox will also expect you to act as a role model both within your Team and in dealing with other Teams. You enjoy seeing your team members develop and will actively coach and mentor them.
What you will be doing:
Game SDK development, including code optimization & refinement
Software design and architecture
Service integrations and 3rd party library/SDK integrations
Planning, implementation, packaging, documentation, and delivery of our SDK

The skills & technologies you need to have:
At least 6 years C++ / C# proficiency
Desktop application development (OSX, Linux, Windows)
Proven ability to establish and maintain team practices such as automated unit testing, code reviews and coding standards
A track record in coaching & mentoring

Required Qualifications

Excellent English, both written and spoken.

Desirable Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in business or marketing.
Preferably experience from the gaming industry or a strong interest in games.

About the role
We’re looking for a QA Manager to lead our efforts towards making even better quality games. In this role you will lead a team of highly skilled Quality Assurance professionals and help them develop their skills. Your main responsibility is to be a manager for a team of QA professionals. That involves coaching towards individual- and team excellence, conduct performance reviews, and help your team with setting short- and long-term goals.

As a Product Manager at Paradox Interactive, you are both a business and product leader, charged with carrying the game’s vision and coordinating a team of experts towards the delivery of the product and its operation through the live service. The Product Manager is also the main business owner for one or several products, accountable for both the quality and the profitability of the games and making sure that the business case stays sound through their evolution.
Responsibilities include (but not limited to):
Being the vision driver and owner of product performance, setting the quality goals and making sure the game hits the KPI targets
Leadership, coordination and support of product teams composed of experts in their fields such as Partner Managers, Marketing or Production disciplines, making sure that the game’s vision is shared across the organization
Establishes, oversees and coordinates all budget, production, marketing and sales activities to ensure the fulfillment of the product plan or other steering documents
Ownership of the business case of the product, including building and balancing the budget, assists and develops the long-term strategic roadmap and consumer marketing plans for those products
Being responsible for the launch and post-release activities of those products alongside the development studio
Representation of the project and its team to both internal and external partners and stakeholders, including presentations, reporting, etc.
Building and maintaining a healthy relationship with development partners, both internal or external studios



Required Qualifications
5+ years of relevant experience in either product management, marketing or production from the games industry
Experience handling both the cost and revenue side on projects
Bachelor degree or similar in a relevant field
Team leadership experience
Fluent in English, both written and spoken
Familiarity with and/or interest in Paradox games is a strong plus

You will have a direct and influential impact on the quality and feel of the game. You will thrive in a modern, creative environment where people around you love their jobs and the games we make.We are open to applicants with all levels of game industry experience (Junior to Senior).ResponsibilitiesDesigning and implementing gameplay systems and experiences in cooperation with game design specifications with room for creative contributionsScripting triggers, events, and game logic using our in-house scripting languageWriting text for in-game content in English that thematically fits within the gameEngaging in research on related topics to find inspiration for crafting entertaining content that creates memorable gaming experiencesTaking ownership of tasks and working independently to ensure quality and timely delivery in coordination with the other Content DesignersDefining asset needs required for the game content as it is designed and communicating those effectively to the Project Lead, Artists, and Audio DepartmentDesigning details for game features as needed for implementationResolving scripting and in-game text bugs and issues in the game files as they ariseRequired QualificationsFamiliarity with and/or interest in Paradox Development Studio's games and brandsProfessional games industry experience in a content design/quest design/mission design/writing role or extensive modding experience for our Grand Strategy GamesProficient creative and design skillsFluent in English and able to write American EnglishExperience in code-based scripting and/or programmingOpen and clear communication skillsNarrative design skillsAble to cooperate in sharing and receiving feedbackA positive influence on other team members with the passion to support each otherAbility to work independently with assigned tasks and take responsibility for delivering quality content on timeContent/Quest/Mission design and/or writing experience (film, RPGs, literary, student projects, etc)Additional QualificationsLead or management experience is a plusProgramming experience is a plusExperience creating mods for Paradox Development Studio games is a major plusPractical informationWe would like your application to include any relevant work samples and/or a link to your portfolio if you have one.
