Product Platforms is a key part of the Technologies department at Axis R&D. The Product Platforms team in Stockholm is a small but growing team that will play an important role in developing and configuring software for Axis' new technology platforms based on our in-house engineered ARTPEC system-on-chips, used in the next generations of video surveillance products. The team currently consists of three engineers and is in an active growth phase, with a clear ambition to take increased technical responsibility over time.
The platforms we develop are Linux-based, and development as well as validation takes place in a Linux environment. The work spans requirements, design, implementation, and validation of core platform areas such as the boot process, security, and CPU subsystem. The Stockholm team works in close collaboration with the larger and more established Product Platforms teams in Lund, as well as with the ASIC team located in Stockholm, forming a tightly integrated distributed team.

What you'll do here as Senior Linux Kernel Engineer?
In your daily work, you will typically engage in the following activities:

Collaborate with ASIC design engineers to research and develop solutions for Axis´ ASIC and product platforms, in particular the SW aspects


Participate in design reviews, technical discussions and specifications to ensure the quality and feasibility of solutions.


Design, implement or utilize test environments needed to validate and/or optimize our solution designs


Prepare SW for and participate in bring-up and validation of our SoCs. This includes debugging issues and implementing solutions.


Evaluation of hardware blocks, platforms and related documentation (mainly from a SW perspective, Linux kernel in particular)


Interact with internal and external teams (e.g. customers, partners or suppliers)


Participate in development and maintenance of existing Linux kernel platforms (e.g. previously developed platforms and products)



In this role, you will (together with skilled colleagues) mainly be working in the following areas:

IP evaluation and selection (primary responsibility)


All kind of engineering activities related to Linux kernel development (e.g. driver development, kernel configuration, upstream activities, provide domain expertise to other teams, etc)



Who are we looking for/Who are you?
You are an analytic and dedicated person with a strong personal drive and an ability to work both unsupervised and as a part of a team. You have the ability to think ahead and understand and manage consequences of complex decisions or findings. You are good at collaborating with people with different backgrounds (e.g. ASIC engineers, other SW teams, external partners and managers) and have a strong attention to detail.

Required qualifications:

A master's degree in computer science, physics, mathematics, electrical engineering or similar


Background in Linux kernel development


Experience in embedded C development and debugging, particularly close to hardware


Familiarity with version control systems and code review tools (Git and Gerrit)



Additional valuable qualifications:

Experience in working with Linux kernel upstream


Background including SoC design work from a SW perspective


ASIC IP configuration experience


A good understanding of the boot process of embedded devices


Basic understanding of ASIC design


Experience from using QEMU as a tool to make a system simulation environment


Experience with Python and Rust development



The position is office-based and you will be located in Axis office in Stockholm, Sweden.

ASIC Design Engineers to our R&D site in Stockholm

Your future team?

The ASIC team in Stockholm will play an important part in the development of future generations of our ARTPEC chips. The team will be involved in the general SoC architecture as well as specification, design and verification of internal IPs. The team will have long term responsibility for parts of the ARTPEC chip and development will be done in close collaboration with the ASIC teams in Lund. See also The history of ARTPEC.

* Proficiency in HDLs (SystemVerilog), scripting languages (e.g., Python/TCL), and EDA tools (e.g., Synopsys/Cadence/Mentor Graphics).
* Strong understanding of digital logic design principles, microarchitecture, and computer architecture.
* Experience with ASIC design flows.
* Familiarity with low-power design techniques, clock domain crossing, and synchronization methods.
* Excellent communication skills, with a willingness to share knowledge and collaborate with cross-functional teams, including seniors and juniors, to drive innovation and growth.

The initial work for the team will focus on requirements, design, implementation, and validation of the boot, security and CPU subsystems. In addition to working closely with some of the Product Platform teams in Lund, the new team will also collaborate closely with the ASIC team based in our Stockholm office.



What you'll do here as Senior Core Platform Engineer?

In your daily work, you will typically engage in the following activities:

* Collaborate with ASIC design engineers to research and develop solutions for Axis´ ASIC and product platforms, in particular the SW aspects;

* Participate in design reviews, technical discussions and specifications to ensure the quality and feasibility of solutions.
* Design, implement or utilize test environments needed to validate and/or optimize our solution designs.

* Prepare SW for and participate in bring-up and validation of our SoCs. This includes debugging issues and implementing solutions.
* Evaluation of hardware blocks, platforms and related documentation (mainly from a SW perspective, Linux kernel in particular).
* Interact with internal and external teams (e.g. customers, partners or suppliers).
* Participate in development and maintenance of existing Linux kernel platforms (e.g. previously developed platforms and products).



In this role, you will (together with skilled colleagues) mainly be working in the following areas:

* IP evaluation and selection (primary responsibility).
* All kind of engineering activities related to Linux kernel development (e.g. driver development, kernel configuration, upstream activities, provide domain expertise to other teams, etc).

You are an analytic and dedicated person with a strong personal drive and an ability to work both unsupervised and as a part of a team. You have the ability to think ahead and understand and manage consequences of complex decisions or findings. Required qualifications:

What you´ll do as a Product Image Engineer
As an Image Engineer at Axis you will work in cross functional teams to develop new cameras from a concept phase to a complete product. Your responsibility will be to optimize the image in regard to optics, image sensors and signal processing. It will also require writing production tests, making sure that our image quality is state-of-the-art. The position of Image Engineer is very broad, and you will cooperate with many different roles and organizations at Axis.



Your main tasks will be:

Optimizing image quality in the projects that develop new cameras. This is done using exposure and focus algorithms, noise filtering, white balance- and color-calibration.

Participating and contributing to the choice of optics and image sensors. This is done in cooperation with the mechanics and electronics teams as well as external partners.

Developing prototype cameras. Testing optics and image sensors in the lab and in real environments, both indoor and outdoor.

Who are you?

The initial work for the team will focus on requirements, design, implementation, and validation of the boot, security and CPU subsystems. In addition to working closely with some of the Product Platform teams in Lund, the new team will also collaborate closely with the ASIC team based in our Stockholm office.

What you'll do here as Senior Core Platform Engineer?
In your daily work, you will typically engage in the following activities:

* Collaborate with ASIC design engineers to research and develop solutions for Axis´ ASIC and product platforms, in particular the SW aspects;

* Participate in design reviews, technical discussions and specifications to ensure the quality and feasibility of solutions.
* Design, implement or utilize test environments needed to validate and/or optimize our solution designs.

* Prepare SW for and participate in bring-up and validation of our SoCs. This includes debugging issues and implementing solutions.
* Evaluation of hardware blocks, platforms and related documentation (mainly from a SW perspective, Linux kernel in particular).
* Interact with internal and external teams (e.g. customers, partners or suppliers).
* Participate in development and maintenance of existing Linux kernel platforms (e.g. previously developed platforms and products).

In this role, you will (together with skilled colleagues) mainly be working in the following areas:

* IP evaluation and selection (primary responsibility).
* All kind of engineering activities related to Linux kernel development (e.g. driver development, kernel configuration, upstream activities, provide domain expertise to other teams, etc).

Your future team?

The ASIC team in Stockholm will play an important part in the development of future generations of our ARTPEC chips. The team will be involved in the general SoC architecture as well as specification, design and verification of internal IPs. A suitable background would be a bachelor's or master's degree in electrical engineering, computer science, engineering physics or similar and with at least 5 years previous experience of ASIC development.

Required Skills and Experience

* SoC level verification, for example software-driven verification, knowledge of interconnect fabrics/protocols, and other typical SoC level IP knowledge
* Coverage-driven constrained random verification using SystemVerilog and UVM, on module or sub-system levels
* Programming in Python, C, C++/SystemC

Bonus points for

* Formal verification, e.g. for connectivity checking and formal property verification
* Transaction Level Modeling (TLM)
* Clock-domain crossing verification

* Structured and well skilled in documentation
* Understanding of embedded systems and hardware/software interaction

What you will do as ASIC System Architect
The ASIC System Architect plays an important role throughout the ASIC project and have a strong impact on the next generation of ARTPEC SoC chips. You will not only specify important system level requirements in the early phases of the project but also and participate in the implementation, manufacturing, and silicon bring-up phases to secure that the chip will fulfil all our expectations. This work is done in cooperation with many internal stakeholders and external partners, such as our ASIC vendor and IP suppliers that contributes to parts of our SoC implementation.

· Discuss and specify SoC requirements.

· Define system level architecture.

ASIC Design Engineers

· Specification and modelling of new functionality

· Micro architecture specification

· RTL design in SystemVerilog

ASIC Verification Engineers

· Coverage driven constrained random verification using SystemVerilog/UVM

· Formal verification, including but not limited to connectivity checking and formal property verification

· Clock-domain crossing verification

· Power-aware verification

We place great emphasis on continuous improvement and work tasks may include investigating new methodologies, participating in study circles and workshops to enhance your skills and spread knowledge. There are also opportunities to write papers and present at international conferences as well as in internal technical forums in Axis.

Who are we looking for/Who are you?
You are curious, have a great passion for technology, love challenges and enjoy solving them in a team-focused atmosphere. We also believe that you are analytical and enjoy sharing your knowledge and ideas with both senior and junior team members.

A suitable background would be a bachelor's or master's degree in electrical engineering, computer science, engineering physics or similar and with previous experience of ASIC development. We are looking for senior engineers and hope you will bring qualities like:

· Knowledge of ASIC technologies, design, verification, testing and manufacturing

· Good understanding of embedded systems and hardware/software interaction

· Structured and well skilled in documentation.

· Good presentation and communication skills in English

What you´ll do as an Experienced Hardware Test EngineerYou will play an essential role in seeking out the causes of errors and coming up with, and sharing, creative solutions across our organization. You'll build a network, conduct deep analysis, and shape ways of hands-on testing in Lund, Stockholm and at Testing institutes.

The daily work can be anything from Performing impact tests to analyze the product performance in different simulated environments

Initially there will be some traveling to HQ in Lund.
