Being a leading supplier of equipment, tools, services, support and technical solutions for the mining and construction industry requires commitment. At Sandvik Mining and Rock Technology, we aim to develop solutions that provide our customers in every corner of the world with the best overall experience. This also applies to our people – the bearers of innovation and culture. Come join our exciting world!
R&D Hard Materials is a development center for hard materials; investigating their use in rock drilling applications. Our field covers a broad range of materials development technology, and we’re now looking to complement our research team with a driven and competent R&D Engineer. This is your opportunity to join one of the world leaders in the development of tools for the mining industry – and to work with cutting-edge technology!
Your mission
As R&D Engineer, your main responsibilities include the development of new materials and production processes, as well as material properties and component testing technologies. We work primarily with the development and improvement of cemented carbide, while other hard materials also are of interest. You work primarily in project form, as part of a team consisting of development engineers and technicians, while reporting to the team manager.
Your character
We’re looking for someone with a PhD in Materials Science, Materials Engineering or Physics. A background within metallic, ceramic, or composite materials is a strong advantage; as is previous experience with cemented carbide materials and/or powder metallurgy processes. As we operate in a global setting, you need to be fluent in English, both verbally and in writing.
We place great value on your personal qualities. Being a team player with good communication skills, you enjoy working together with others; finding new ways to solve problems and sharing ideas. You’re able to balance a broad context with attention to detail, and you find work motivation in developing new solutions which will be implemented in future products – and you take pride in getting the work done with a high level of responsibility.
At Sandvik, we believe that diversity of experience, perspective and background leads to a better environment for our employees, our business and our customers. We’re looking forward to meeting you!
