porkchop is looking for a Mechanical Engineer to help develop our next generation of products and services. Our vision is a world where it’s possible for any person or cargo to be transported to anywhere in the universe - we’re working on just that.
We’re currently developing a reusable transportation platform to allow satellites to be deployed into exotic orbits, which they currently cannot reach - all while reusing the platform numerous times to significantly cut down costs and enable quicker deployment of constellations.
You’ll be responsible for the mechanical development of this platform including requirements specification, designing, assembling, and testing mechanical devices and systems.

Your responsibilities will include designing and developing electronic subsystems which will all fly in orbit - you’ll be taking circuits from the whiteboard, through schematic and board design, to testing and integration into the satellite. The value of our first product, porkchop X, is that it replaces existing structural frames inside the PocketQubes, taking up no additional volume (i.e cost) and enabling manoeuvrability and longer lifetime.
Job description
porkchop X will be flying in orbit in 2021, giving porkchop space heritage. Since many key players in the PocketQube market are eagerly awaiting the results of our in-orbit demo, we are ready to scale-up in order to fulfil their individual needs. For our R&D team we are looking for a skilled product engineer specialized in space electric propulsion.
You will become part of an internationally oriented and multi-disciplinary R&D department, aiming at developing propulsion solutions to customers around the globe. As a driven product engineer, you will have the main responsibility to make sure each porkchop X is developed based on customer’s requirements. Moreover, you will work closely with others in the management team to make sure that the business development is carried out as planned.
What you will be doing:
You will be responsible of maintaining the existed propulsion platform and will take the lead of the whole propulsion system development process incl. specify the requirements, design, assembly, and testing.
Responsible for the functional and performance testing of our propulsion system based on specific standards that apply to a particular space mission and/or spacecraft.
You will be also part of the management team in order to develop business strategies according to the company’s needs.
Support customers and suppliers.

We expect the employee to have the following qualifications:
Master’s degree in Aerospace, Mechatronics or Mechanical Engineering
+2 years experience as product development/testing engineer obtained via education and/or professional level
Understanding in space electric propulsion system design
Experience in the design of methods to operate and evaluate the performance of a propulsion system
Experience in CAD systems, Fusion 360 is preferred
Experience in DAS or DRAMA software
Experience in Matlab/Simulink
Fluent in English on a professional level
Excellent communication skills
You must possess quality awareness, be self-critical, and deliver solid work
