Humans since 1982 is a Swedish contemporary art and design studio operating at the intersection of art, design, and technology. Our signature series, ClockClock and A million Times, are internationally recognized and collected by some of the world’s most prestigious collectors, museums, luxury brands, and leading companies.
About the role:
Tech support at Humans since 1982 is an adventure. You will work directly in our studio and manufacturing line, supporting artworks made entirely in-house in Sweden, and collaborate closely with the design team on how they move and behave.
Our clients are not typical—they are collectors, institutions, and brands shaping culture globally. We create for those who shape the world, which sets a high bar for everything we do.
You will play a key role in making sure our artworks continue to tick—overseeing and fine-tuning animations, and safeguarding the precision and quality that define our work. Your responsibility is not only to fix issues, but to ensure that every piece continues to deliver the fascination and wonder our collectors expect over time.
On any given day, you may be:
Troubleshooting support cases and verifying possible solutions in the studio to prove your theories
Configuring, installing, and testing software on artworks
Developing small fixes and improvements and documenting your work processes
Coordinating with colleagues, customers and support partners (sometimes across time zones) to manage customer needs
Assisting developers with troubleshooting hardware issues, such as broken PCB boards and understanding the root cause
Monitor the weekly support cases and analyze trends in issue types for weekly
Maintaining clear documentation of each case and ensuring consistent communication with internal teams
Supporting and maintaining the studio’s internal IT setup, including networks, servers, and account management
You will also master the animation software tool for the timebase artworks and continuously improve the movements and build new animations

We believe that you have:
A technical post-secondary education (or equivalent hands-on experience)
Experience working in technical support, service, or other customer-facing role
Hands-on experience with electronics, working with components, cables, circuit boards, ESD safety, soldering.
A good understanding of networks and how systems communicate (e.g. CAN bus, USB, WiFi, Ethernet)
Experience working with Linux-based systems along with a general understanding of server environments and system configuration
Basic programming skills (e.g. Python or similar)
Fluent in English (required), Swedish is a plus, and additional languages are beneficial
A curious and hands-on approach to problem solving, with an interest in learning new technologies

This is a hands-on role, so you should be comfortable working from our Stockholm studio. We’re looking for someone curious, responsible, and committed for the long term—your work will directly impact the quality and precision of our artworks.
What we offer:
Competitive salary
30 days of paid vacation
Wellness allowance
A unique opportunity to work at the intersection of art, design, and technology—rare in Sweden
Rapid career development in a high-end, globally recognized studio

Culture at Humans since 1982
At Humans since 1982, we operate in a niche of luxury collectible design and art, where exclusivity, high precision, and uncompromising quality are essential—and where every piece is designed to bring fascination.
We value ownership and high standards. You are expected to take initiative, think critically, and contribute beyond your immediate scope. Collaboration is key, but so is independent execution.
We move fast and build with an entrepreneurial mindset, while maintaining the level of precision and craftsmanship our work demands. As we grow, every team member plays a direct role in shaping both the work we create and the culture we build. Visa mindre

About this position

Tech support at Humans since 1982 is an adventure, to say the least.
All of our artworks are entirely made in-house in Sweden. You will sit in our studio and manufacturing line and be a part of what goes out to the world.
We have today seen the production of over 1,000 artworks, mostly in the ClockClock and A million Times ranges. By our calculations, right now, there are about 30,000 pairs of motors turning in our artworks, distributed to cities and towns in almost every country.
Keeping all of them running is a mind-boggling task. We are looking for someone who really knows how to think to solve problems and who loves to work with people to find solutions.
Our role in technical support connects directly with our customers and remote support companies and occasionally travels internationally to on-site cases. This position acts as the second line of technical support, working closely with external support handlers, interviewing and evaluating them to ensure they fit with our studio’s standards. You will investigate and solve challenging support cases daily. Much of this role involves the mindset that you are supporting some very large investments in art.

The right candidate will have:

A very good understanding of electronics: An electrical engineering degree is ideal.
Programming understanding (Python, Linux, and Java) as an example; you could be required to program animations on the artworks.
Broad knowledge and passion for technology.
Perfect English.
An interest in arts and commerce. Patient and careful with the artworks.
Basic networking skills.
Readily available to travel and an interest in different cultures.
IT support experience and ability to explain complex systems to someone with less technical knowledge.
Comfort working from the office most of the time, given the hands-on nature of testing, troubleshooting, and preparation of spare parts.

On any given day, you may be:

Managing around three challenging support cases in parallel
Coordinating with different departments to manage customer needs
Studying and building on our knowledge base to understand the issue
Troubleshooting support cases and verifying possible solutions in the studio to prove your theories
Developing fixes and improvements to our software
Monitor the weekly support cases and analyze trends in issue types
Assisting developers with troubleshooting hardware issues, such as broken motors, and understanding the root cause
Configuring, installing, and testing software on A million Times artworks
Documenting your work processes, especially if they differ from established routines
Adopting a flexible working schedule to help a support partner in another time zone

Support Strategy & Optimization:

Analyze historical support cases to identify trends, recurring issues, and areas for improvement. Leverage these insights to recommend process enhancements, automation opportunities, and knowledge base improvements to optimize future support efficiency and customer experience. Regularly report key pain points to the development team and recommend product improvements to minimize future issues. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement data-driven solutions that improve resolution times and service quality. As experience is gained, you will take responsibility for developing and implementing strategies to enhance support efficiency and reduce costs

On average, this role will spend 1–2 weeks per year in a foreign country, working on an installation or on support. We try our best to use local resources where possible. However, you should be excited by the idea of travelling to visit the hotels, offices, and homes of our most prestigious customers.

We are looking for someone with passion and responsibility. The decisions you make will impact the studio many years into the future. As such, we are looking for a long-term commitment to this role and the high quality of our work.

We offer you an opportunity to be a big part of our small family. You will certainly not be a small cog in a big machine. With us, you will see every part of what makes the studio exist, from design to manufacturing to marketing, shows, and events. It is an exciting place to work, and we look forward to meeting you.

A little more on Humans

We are a team of about 13 people based near Globen, Stockholm. Our group is dynamic, active, and diverse, with a wide range of interests. We value personality and enjoy building a strong, inclusive company culture.
We offer flexible working hours and reasonable remote work options. Every few weeks, we organize something fun—whether it’s art gallery visits, after-works, lunches, or BBQs. Like many Swedish companies, we provide an annual fitness allowance to support your well-being.
We also enjoy friendly competitions, like our in-house cooking challenge where the previous winner picks the theme. Other activities have included mini-golf, boule, go-karting, bowling, pottery classes, ski trips, and studio events. We’re always open to new ideas that bring the team together!

Job Description - General developer, including Hardware and Embedded.

This is a rare occasion when we are hiring into a development role. We are looking for a developer with a broad range of skills to join our team for many years. You will be our key ARM developer for our STM and ESP devices, you will also do some RISC on our ATmega-based projects. You will design and redesign PCBs. If you are unfamiliar with these terms, this job is not for you.

Beyond this. You are an experienced engineer. We don’t consider your experience in “years” for a specific thing. You are passionate, structured, and energetic. You have great ideas and the know-how to communicate them effectively. Above all, you are interested in all things technology.

The role you are applying for is to develop and improve our three main product lines: A million Times, ClockClock 24 and ClockClock 9. To date, we have produced and shipped over 1000 clock based works all over the world. They are designed to satisfy our customers for decades. Delivering these products often feels like launching a small space mission. While we have been in business for over 12 years, we are recently beginning to scale up the company’s commercial side.

Your first year in with us will see you involved in many small projects, such as:

- Design and implement new hardware features, or migrate features from one product to another.
- Redesign all/ part of a board because the chip crisis means some components are no longer easy to obtain.
- Rewrite the RTOS library to integrate a new feature or fix a bug.
- Optimize the way that a server debugs to Syslog or implement a cloud service
- Clean up, or rewrite a simple JS-based WebGUI.
- Add minor features to our flutter app, or assist the design team in supervising contractors to perform redevelopment work.
- Add features to our internal clock simulation software
- Workshop/ assist our support staff in deep root-cause analysis.
- Handle first-line support for a few weeks a year when others are on vacation.

You will also be involved in the planning and evolution of our product lines to match our future business. This is a great time to jump on board and be a part of growing a small business to a medium-scale enterprise. You will get front-line hands-on experience in understanding the challenges of deploying and scaling a complex, electronics product.

In the long run, we intend expand our product portfolio and engage in several collaborations with other artists and businesses, such as our Ikea collaboration in 2021. For these new exciting projects, you are likely to play a key development role.

We are in no hurry to hire someone for this position. So take your time and make your application stand out. Show your attention to detail by putting humanssince1982 backward at the beginning of your CV. If you pass this stage, we will then send a more detailed test to complete in your own time. (Typically 2 to 10 hours and will include both PCB design and MCU coding). Following this will be at least 2 rounds of interviews.

We look forward to hearing from you. Visa mindre

The studio - who we are

Humans since 1982 is a contemporary art and design studio that engages beyond traditional definitions of art, design and technology. Founded in Sweden in 2009, we create exclusive objects based on accessible concepts with the aim of enabling people to reflect on everyday life.

Our products, in particular our best-known series’ ClockClock and A million Times, are iconic statement pieces that deliver a unique experience, immersing the viewer in the concept to facilitate surprise and wonder.

Job Description

This is an on-demand part-time position at our studio. It is a few hours per week, sometimes more. It is suitable for a student, maker, artist, or otherwise self-employed individual, looking for extra work, experience and flexibility.

We are looking for someone enthusiastic who can jump into something different every day. Yet, also someone who can take on a long and repetitive task as well. You should be meticulous. You should love to document what you do, to tell us about your procedures, and improve them.

Above all, you must be passionate about technology and creativity, both on and off the computer. You have made things with your hands. You have made things on the screen.

The final assembly of all our products happens in our Stockholm studio, as well as all of the research and development work. It’s an exciting and fun environment to be in, where there are many interesting things to do and learn.

The scope of your role will grow and depend greatly on your own potential and enthusiasm. However, in the beginning, our expectations are that you perform well on tasks similar to these listed below.

Tasks might include:

- Test these 50 devices with a multimeter to see if they are really what our supplier sold us.
- Reformat this spreadsheet, get the cell formulas right, then find a way to transfer all the data onto this platform.
- Sort out this huge box of tools then go to the store and get a shadow board to hang them on.
- Fix the 3d printer, order new filament and test it.
- Edit this 3d model and make a rendering from this angle.
- Solder up these test boards and put them in the oven.
- Install Linux on this pi and connect it to our wifi network.
- Count all the stock in these boxes.
- Support the rest of the team when extra hands are needed.
- Occasionally we will also ask you to assist in assembly on our production line, but this is not a key responsibility.

We don’t expect years of experience in this role… but a good indication of your abilities is that you already have an idea of what it means to do the things in the list above.

How to Apply

Upload your CV and cover letter in English to our online portal.

On the rare occasion that we hire into our tech or design teams, thousands of people apply. Make your application stand out.

Indicate your attention to detail by writing humanssince1982 backwards into the first line of your CV, but not your cover letter. Visa mindre

Job description: Technical support, research and development

The role covers 4 key areas:
Technical support to our customers, including managing on-site contractors to perform the work.
Root cause analysis and bug fixes
Production line software configuration and optimization
Software development, fixes, and product customization

Your main responsibility will be to maintain and improve our product:
To solve issues quickly and correctly
Work towards long-term fixes
Ensure production line installations are efficient and of a high standard
Implement minor product changes and customizations

The right candidate will have:
An electrical engineering degree or equivalent
Programming experience
A broad knowledge and passion for technology

Study and build on our knowledge base to understand the issue
Conduct experiments in the studio to prove your theories

Work with RND or external contractors to implement new software releases
Interact with customers in different time zones
Occasionally adopt a flexible working schedule

On average this role will spend 1-2 weeks per year in a foreign country, working on an installation or on support. We try our best to use local resources where possible. However, you should be excited by the idea of traveling to visit the hotels, offices, and homes of our most prestigious customers and solving problems in different environments.
We are looking for someone with passion and responsibility. The decisions you make will impact the studio many years into the future. As such, we are looking for a long-term commitment to this role and the high quality of our work. This requires passion and interest in the studio and in what we are trying to achieve.
We offer you an opportunity to be a big part of our small family. You will certainly not be a small cog in a big machine. With us, you will see every part of what makes the studio exist, from design to manufacturing to marketing, shows, and events. It is an exciting place to work, and we look forward to meeting you.
