We are looking for a software development lead for Leia, our easy-to-use mission analysis tool. The softwares core functionality is in beta testing and your role will be to lead the development to fully released product and incorporate more capabilities from this point onward.
Our flight dynamics team codes the algorithms. You will build the product around it, owning architecture end to end: API, front-end, database, containerization, and deployment.
This is the first dedicated software engineering hire at Vinterstellar and a key position. We foresee that the software team will grow under the lead of the person filling it.

WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON
Back-end: expose the analytical engine as REST API.
Front-end: mission configuration, results display, and dashboards
Database design, user management, and audit trail
Containerization, CI/CD, and deployment (cloud and self-hosted)
3D orbit visualization, building on our existing online orbit calculator
Report generation and structured data export
Over time: natural language query features, additional web services, and data interfaces for space situational awareness

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Mid-level candidate, 3–5 years of experience building production web applications.
Willing to work across the full stack as the primary builder in a small team
Strong Python skills; experience with FastAPI, Django, or similar frameworks
JavaScript or TypeScript with a modern front-end framework (React preferred)
Comfortable with databases, Docker, and basic DevOps
Curiosity about space, scientific computing, or complex engineering domains — you do not need to be a rocket scientist, but you should want to understand what the platform does

USEFUL BUT NOT REQUIRED
Familiarity with Three.js, WebGL, or data visualization libraries
Interest in LLM integration and AI-assisted interfaces
Experience with CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code

REQUIREMENTS
Fluent in English; Swedish is a plus
EU or EES citizen

We are building software that tracks what moves in orbit and flags what matters. You will be working with orbit determination in the intersection between orbital mechanics, mission operations, and intelligence.
While you will touch upon many of our projects, your primary work will be to lead the technical work on our LSSA-Pilot project, developing the algorithms, data pipelines, and operational framing that make space situational awareness usable for non-engineers. You will work with our flight dynamicsists, who know the orbital mechanics. Your job is to translate sensor data into orbit knowledge and on to Space Situational Awareness. This role grows naturally toward technical leadership.

WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON
Orbit determination, object tracking, and proximity analysis algorithms
Integration of external space object catalogs and data sources
Conjunction screening, collision avoidance computation, and launch safety analysis
Defining CONOPS-level requirements: what operational users need to see, when, and why
Collaboration with research and industry partners in the SSA domain

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Mid-to-senior candidate, 5–8 years of experience. Operational instinct comes from years in mission rooms; we need seniority here.
Experience with how real missions are operated — not just the physics, but the process
Background in controls engineering, preferably applied to orbital mechanics and flight dynamics
Ability to bridge the gap between rigorous analysis and what decision-makers need to act on
Strong programming skills in Python
Understanding of orbit determination or propagation techniques
MSc or PhD in control engineering, aerospace engineering, physics, applied mathematics, or equivalent

USEFUL BUT NOT REQUIRED
Experience with space object catalogs, TLE formats, or conjunction data messages
Familiarity with CCSDS standards
Interest in defense applications
Background in mission control, flight operations, or CONOPS development

REQUIREMENTS
Fluent in English; Swedish is a plus
EU or EES citizen

Space Systems Engineer
We’re looking for a Space Systems Engineer to join Vinterstellar AB and help us and our partners develop satellites and space systems. You’ll take a leading role in shaping architectures, coordinating subsystems, and making technical decisions that make a difference — both on Earth and in space.
About Vinterstellar
At Vinterstellar, we develop space technology, establish space-based infrastructure, and contribute to scientific research — all with the goal of expanding humanity’s understanding and use of space. In the long run, we want our work to help make human life in space a reality.

We are a startup with a solid customer base and a stable financial foundation — combining the agility and creativity of a young company with the reliability of an established one. We work closely, support each other, and share responsibility. Ideas grow in the group, and you’ll be involved from the early idea to final delivery. What matters is creating value — where and how you work is something we define together.
Your Role
You’ll work closely with our clients — leading players in satellite development and space innovation — to help define, build, and verify their systems. Your role will be to understand the big picture, align the parts, and ensure everything works as one.
What You’ll Do
Design and propose system architectures to meet mission objectives
Perform system-level analysis of spacecraft and their subsystems
Define, document, and manage system requirements
Coordinate development across subsystems and ensure seamless integration
Support clients in selecting technical solutions and components
Conduct trade-off studies and propose optimizations
Prepare system-level documentation (e.g. ICD, VCD, FMECA)
Contribute to test planning, verification, and validation
Review designs and act as technical sounding board throughout the system life cycle

What We’re Looking For
Experience with space systems engineering (or adjacent complex technical systems)
MSc, PhD, or equivalent in aerospace, vehicle engineering, physics, mathematics, or similar
Fluency in English and Swedish
EU citizenship

Bonus If You Also…
Live within commuting distance to Stockholm
Enjoy solving complex problems in physics, systems, and design
Are open to pitching in where needed — even beyond strict engineering tasks

Location & Benefits
• Office: Drottninggatan 33, Stockholm (hybrid work possible)
• Occasional travel may be required
How to Apply
Does this sound like a good fit? Send your application today and become part of one of Stockholm’s most exciting space startups.

Email your CV and a short personal letter (in the email body) to: careers@vinterstellar.se
Deadline: June 15, 2025 – but don’t wait too long! Applications are reviewed continuously, and the position may be filled before the deadline.

Are you ready to apply your skills to an exciting space technology project? At Vinterstellar, you’ll have the opportunity to help pave the way to the Moon at one of Stockholm’s leading space startups. If you enjoy problem-solving, interdisciplinary collaboration, and working toward clear goals—keep reading!
We are offering a unique summer job for students in aerospace engineering, mathematics, programming, software development, or communication design. This is a chance to work in an environment that values independence, creativity, fast decision-making, and rapid implementation. You'll receive guidance from experienced experts while gaining hands-on experience in product and business development within the space and aviation sector.
Work can be done remotely or from our office on Drottninggatan in Stockholm.

About the Project
We’re looking for two students to develop a web-based tool for orbit optimization—turning a mathematical model into an intuitive, user-friendly interface. The goal is to showcase our company’s expertise while providing real value to users.

Your Mission
Programming – Develop an interactive model for transferring an elliptical orbit to a circular geostationary orbit, based on an existing algorithm.
UI/UX & Web Development – Design an intuitive, visually appealing interface where users can input satellite parameters and easily visualize the resulting orbit.
Deployment & Accessibility – Integrate the tool into a WordPress-based website, making it publicly available.

Who We’re Looking For
A student in aerospace engineering, applied mathematics, or computer science, with an interest in programming and satellite simulation.
A student in frontend development, communication design, or UX design, with an interest in programming and experience in creating interactive web-based interfaces.

Since this project requires two complementary skill sets, we are looking for a team of two. Together, we will create a structured project plan. Close collaboration is essential, so both candidates should have a basic understanding of programming and software development, even if their expertise differs.
We value teamwork, creativity, and a solution-oriented mindset. Innovation comes from daring to experiment, learning from mistakes, and finding new ways forward.
