What we should tell you about the role
We're looking for full-stack engineers who move fast and thrive in high-velocity environments. You're the kind of person who sees a broken carrier integration, traces the root cause inside an hour, and ships the fix before the standup ends. You love turning messy, real-world logistics data (carrier APIs that lie, warehouse webhooks that fire out of order, return flows that nobody documented) into systems that just work, and you don't wait for perfect specs to get started.
You're a builder who's just as comfortable shipping a new React surface in the merchant dashboard as you are debugging a Pub/Sub backlog, tuning a Solr index, or rewriting a Laravel job that's silently dropping shipments. You think in terms of latency, reliability, and iteration, always asking: how do we get this in front of merchants faster, and how do we know it actually moved the needle?
As one of our next core engineering hires, you'll help shape how Pango orchestrates shipping, tracking, and returns end to end. You'll work closely with product, our co-founders, and our merchants directly, to rethink how AI agents can do real, accountable operational work in a space stuck on legacy SaaS for a decade.
Here's why this is a terrible job
This is not a job for someone who likes to move slow.
We operate week to week with ruthless speed. Sometimes we're going in the wrong direction. More often we're going in the right one, but you won't always know which until after you ship.
If you need a few extra days to perfect a pipeline, chances are there's already a handful of teammates and merchants blocked behind you.
We use a deliberately tight stack: PHP/Laravel, My, Google Cloud Functions, React, Terraform, Pub/Sub, Redis, Solr. We've made these choices on purpose, and we expect you to make them work, not relitigate them on day three.
You'll operate at the intersection of AI agents, e-commerce logistics, and the kind of accuracy requirements that come with real customers shipping real packages to real people. A bug here doesn't ruin a sprint, it ruins someone's birthday gift.
There are no clear answers. Just judgment calls, ambiguity, and constant input from every direction. You'll ask yourself, is this really the work? It is. And it's not for everyone.
Here's why it's the best career choice you'll make
We're building what every incumbent said couldn't be built. A platform that behaves like a back-office teammate, not just another SaaS tool bolted onto Shopify.
We operate with total transparency around pay, performance, and progress. Reviews are frequent, structured, and based on output and ownership, not tenure.
You'll be paid competitively. You'll earn meaningful equity. And you'll have full autonomy to make high-impact technical decisions.
You'll ship features because you believe in them and the merchants need them, not because they cleared six rounds of approval. You'll talk to customers directly. You'll drive outcomes end to end, from the first line of code to the merchant going live.
We'll tell you what needs to be achieved. How you get there is on you.
What you'll be responsible for
Building and maintaining production-grade services across our Laravel monolith and Google Cloud Functions layer
Shipping merchant-facing React surfaces that turn complex logistics workflows into something a brand operator actually wants to use
Owning carrier, warehouse, and shop-system integrations end to end, from the first webhook to long-term reliability
Driving performance, cost, and reliability improvements through experiments, profiling, and pragmatic refactoring
Enabling the broader team with primitives, tooling, and shared infrastructure that make the next feature faster to build

Your hard skillset
5+ years of professional engineering experience overall
Strong experience in one backend language (PHP, Ruby, Python, Go, or Rust) with genuine willingness to go deep on PHP/Laravel OR strong experience in React
Comfortable across the stack: backend services, frontend, message queues, caches, search, infrastructure as code
Experience at product-focused startups using modern tooling and processes
Bonus: Shopify, multi-carrier shipping APIs, or e-commerce logistics experience
Bigger bonus: you've taken a product from 0 to 1 and watched real users depend on it
Even bigger bonus: you've integrated LLMs or agentic workflows into production, not just a demo

Your soft skillset
Comfortable being uncomfortable, making calls with incomplete data, and changing your mind when the data changes
Empathetic and curious. You build for the merchant, not for the benchmark
Highly collaborative across product, engineering, and go-to-market. No lone wolves
Detail-oriented but pragmatic. You know when accuracy matters and when to ship
You own your work and welcome the accountability that comes with it

Growth and levels
We operate on a transparent leveling framework. Each level reflects increasing ownership, impact, and scope, with real jumps in salary and equity. Promotions are based on output, not tenure.
This isn't a comfy engineering role. It's fast, focused, and merchant-obsessed. You will launch fast. You will learn fast. You will own what you ship.
The process
Intro call with the founders (30 minutes)
Technical walkthrough and async take-home task (approximately 60 minutes)
Final round with the team (half day, on-site if possible)

By the end, you'll be wanting access to the stack before your first day, because you'll see exactly what kind of company we're building, and exactly how fast your career can move inside it.

About the job

Company Description
Meet the next Swedish unicorn straight from the streets of Stockholm sitting at SSE Business Lab

Pango is building the world's first Agentic Operating System for e-commerce logistics. Our vision is to create the AI e-commerce employee of the future.

While deliveries and returns are a hidden and often tedious aspect of e-commerce, we are bringing innovation to a legacy $90 billion industry.

When we started, we already had 39 competitors in the Nordics. Yet, just two months after launching, we achieved product-market fit and are now powering million-dollar brands with our product.

We’re building the future with those who want to say “I was there when it all started.”

What We Should Tell You About The Role
We’re looking for a full-stack founding engineer who moves fast and thrives in high-velocity environments. You’re the kind of person who sees a broken workflow, understands the root cause quickly, and ships a fix in hours - not weeks. You love turning ambiguity into working software, and you don’t wait around for perfect specs to start building.

You’re a generalist who’s just as comfortable spinning up a backend service as you are crafting a clean, responsive UI. You sweat the details, but never let them block progress. You think in terms of speed, value, and iteration, always asking: how can we get this in front of users faster?
As one of our first engineers, you’ll help shape the core product and infrastructure. You’ll work closely with design, ML, and actual e-commerce pros to reinvent how this industry works by shipping fast, learning fast, and doing what others said couldn’t be done.

Our product and engineering team is based in Stockholm and we want to make sure that we have face-to-face time with each other, which means that we're in the office the majority of the time.

Here’s Why This Is a Terrible Job
This is not a job for someone who likes to move slow.
We operate week to week with ruthless speed. Sometimes we’re going in the wrong direction, but more times than not we’re going in the right direction.
If you need a few extra days to perfect your code, chances are there’s already a handful of team members blocked behind you.
We use tools like Cursor to move fast, test ideas in days, and ship extremely fast.
You’ll be operating at the intersection of product logic, machine learning, user psychology, and highly regulated workflows.
There are no clear answers. Just judgment calls, ambiguity, and constant input from every direction.
You’ll ask yourself, is this really the work? It is. And it’s not for everyone.

Here's Why It's The Best Career Choice You'll Make
We’re building what e-commerce people call impossible. A product that behaves like a teammate, not just another tool.
We run reviews every 4 months. We operate with total transparency around pay, performance, and progress.
You’ll earn equity that grows fast. And you’ll have full autonomy to make high-impact decisions.
You’ll ship code because you believe in it, not because it got signed off.
You’ll talk to customers weekly. You’ll drive outcomes end to end.
We’ll tell you what needs to be achieved. How you get there is on you.
We expect you to build a customer Oracle. An internal simulator so dialed in that you can predict exactly what your user needs before you ever talk to them.
That comes from immersion, curiosity, and care.

The Teammate We're Looking For
Thrives at solving complex, technical product problems
Moves seamlessly between systems thinking and detailed execution
Excited by the challenge of serving multiple user groups and workflows
No lone wolves — we need a collaborative engineer
Big bonus if you have a track record of owning product outcomes, not just tasks
Love to be in startup environment

?
