When our journey started, we were all about changing the way people shop for groceries. 20 years later, we’re developing our own ground breaking technology, opening multiple sites at an accelerating rate and engaging in exciting new business partnerships around the world!
Transforming an industry also means transforming the way we do business. As we continually develop new technologies and customer propositions, we’re looking for the Everyday Pioneers to lead us into the next stage of our evolution: enhancing our capabilities, inspiring our teams and developing new ways of working.
Changing the way the world shops, for good.

What does the team do?
Our team is busy re-inventing the way in which Ocado designs, builds and communicates physical products. As part of this, we are a group of software engineers looking to bring software engineering best practises to the hardware world. Think CI/CD, but for a physical robot.

What would I be doing?
You will be part of the department developing Ocado’s next-generation grocery fulfilment robot - the 600 series. The 600 series is pioneering the use of 3D printing at scale, unlocking a new set of opportunities to automate, speed up and add observability to the product development lifecycle.
You will be working closely with a talented multidisciplinary team of hardware engineers to understand their needs and create automation to allow hardware to be developed in an agile, software-like approach. You will be responsible for developing this new software and providing insights on what tools, practices and methodologies we should be using to deliver faster.
So, what are we looking for?
Good skills writing modern Python
A real passion for automation and DevOps principles
A fundamental understanding of automated testing
Comfortable writing production-quality code, and rapid prototyping
Some knowledge/experience of the back end, preferably Python or Java
Some knowledge/experience of the front end, preferably Typescript
Strong collaboration skills that will allow you to work effectively alongside a cross-functional team
A desire to collaborate in order to improve your skills , mentor others and share knowledge across the team.
A passion for hardware development or additive manufacturing. Do you have your own hobby project or 3D printer? We’d love to hear about it from you Visa mindre
