Unique Opportunity
This is a unique opportunity to get involved in a new, greenfield, technology build based on cutting edge sequencer-based architecture (Event Sourcing micro-services architecture). About the team
We are growing a new team in Stockholm that will collaborate with colleagues around the world to deliver our new strategic post-execution platform. Almost all of our projects are cross-location and cross-function, meaning we work directly with Front Office, Operations, Legal, Tax, and our Engineering colleagues from those areas, across the wider firm.
We work directly with Operations and Securities sales/trading to design and implement a wide range of functions including trade aggregators, trade matchers, payment systems, intercompany trade booking and settlement systems, and connectivity to exchanges, counterparties and vendors. Our Exception Workflow and Business Intelligence tooling allows our Operations teams to respond to client enquiries and monitor service levels.
Our strategic new Post Execution Sequencer platform is a brand new/greenfield initiative to converge all of our businesses onto a single technology platform, to proving much better scalability, improved resiliency and reducing the time needed to develop and deliver new features. The programme is sponsored by our division’s senior leadership and is one of the key strategic deliveries of the next few years.

OUR IMPACT
The Data Engineering organization aims to make data a strategic asset for the enterprise by providing a platform that enables the structuring, management, integration, control, discovery, usage, and governance of our Data Assets. Within Data Engineering the Client Data team is responsible for capturing/modelling & distributing a consistent view of client data across the firm. The team leverages a wide variety of cutting edge technologies including Java, JavaScript, Spark, Apache Flink, Kafka, , and OLAP platforms. Across the team we have various projects that aim to:
- Curate, design and catalogue high quality data models for reliable data access
- Build highly scalable data processing logic for use across a wide range of datasets and applications
- Build tooling to support the maintenance of the curated datasets & maintain data quality
- Provide data-driven insight and decision-making critical to GS’s business processes
YOUR IMPACT
This role is within the client data curation application team, which specifically targets client reference data curation, management tooling and distribution across the wider organization. The core of the application is built around modern services framework, and web-based UI. It is a global team, and nearly all deliverables require close working with global team members. Even though the role is highly technical, to succeed within the organization it is important to have an interest understanding the data, and utilization patterns. In addition to technical skills, it is important the candidate has an interest in understanding existing and potential data sets from both an engineering and business context.
HOW YOU WILL FULFILL YOUR POTENTIAL
• Build & deploy modern data management tools to curate key client reference data sets, models and workflows
• identify areas for process automation and further efficiencies
• Evaluate, select and acquire new internal & external data sets that contribute to business decision making
• Engineer data processing pipelines
• Partner with data platform teams to adopt cloud based processing pipelines & data distribution
• Engage with data consumers and producers in order to design appropriate models to suit all needs

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE WE ARE LOOKING FOR
•Hands on development experience(Java/Full stack) with exposure to the full software development lifecycle
• Familiar with design patterns, domain driven design and other software development best practices
• Experience with JavaScript and at least one web application framework (React/Angular)
• Relational database experience (e.g. Sybase, UDB) and/or ORM frameworks.
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills
• Strong work ethic, a sense of ownership and urgency

Skills and Experience We Are Looking For
Bachelor’s / Master’s degree, preferably in a STEM subject, such as Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Physics etc.
5+ years of experience in building applications in a commercial environment
A solid understanding of object orientated programming skills (Java, Python, C++, or other OO technology) including data structures and algorithms.
A good understanding of the principles behind test-driven development (TDD) with hands-on experience of unit testing
Proficient with databases systems; able to write and analyse complex queries with multi-table joins and aggregate functions
Able to analyse non-trivial interdependencies between systems and possess excellent problem solving and analytical skills
Excellent communication skills with a history of user/team interaction
Highly motivated individuals that are committed and capable of working to timelines

TEAM OVERVIEW
Market Data provides critical input for all trading decisions that take place at Goldman Sachs. The Market Data Engineering team is responsible for the consumption and timely, accurate distribution of all real-time and historical data provided by global stock exchanges, brokers and data vendors including Bloomberg and Refinitiv (Reuters).
Our core service provides the firm with high volume of real-time streaming data that is globally accessible. It has high availability, is highly scalable with single digit millisecond latency SLAs for the most sensitive clients. This is engineered with a ticker plant that consists of hundreds of nodes, thousands of application instances, thousands of consumers, and updates peaks of millions of messages per second.

Strong understanding of Network and OS (Linux/Solaris) fundamentals.
